My German Teaching Journey

I hold a BSc in German with Japanese, a degree that gave me a strong academic foundation in the German language and its cultural background. As part of my studies I spent a year living in Germany, where daily immersion helped me develop natural fluency and a deep connection with the country. Many of the friendships I formed during that time have lasted more than 30 years, and this long‑standing relationship with Germany continues to shape the way I teach.

I have been teaching German as a private tutor since 2011, working with learners from complete beginners to adults studying for travel or business. I also support school‑age students alongside their classroom lessons, helping many of them achieve higher grades at both GCSE and A level through targeted, confidence‑building tuition.

Alongside my teaching experience, I have used German professionally in previous employment, regularly handling telephone communication and composing emails in German as part of my daily work. This combination of academic study, real‑world use, and cultural insight enables me to teach German in a way that is practical, authentic, and encouraging for learners at every stage.
